All Jimoh Isiaq wanted was a Nigeria where the ones who are meant to protect us actually do that instead of killing us. He got a bullet.
Ifeoma Abugu was about to get married, heck! She was preparing to pass out of the National Youth Service program when SARS officials took her instead of her fiancé, then raped her and murdered her. They killed her too.
Tina Ezekwe was just 16. She had a future ahead of her, but SARS snatched that away too.
Kolade Johnson was just watching a football match at a viewing centre when SARS went on a shooting spree and you got it right, they killed him too.
These are just some of the names we know, because there are a lot more we know nothing of.
These names belonged to people like you who will never achieve their dreams or aspirations because SARS snuffed the life out of them. These people were someone’s father, daughter, son, mother, sister, husband, and wife. They didn’t die from natural causes nor accidents, they died from bullets and torture meted out to them by various officers of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
What was their crime?
On the 12th of October 2020, these same demons killed innocent unarmed protesters in Surulere Lagos. In a video, a boy begged for his life and still, they pointed their gun at him and killed him without trial or justification.
They killed another man too. His name is Ikechukwu. He died with his hands in his pockets. He did nothing.
There’s a statement unique to them- I go waste you here and nothing go happen-. This is coming out of the mouth of an official of the law!!!!
Their deaths cannot be in vain. Their deaths will not go unpunished.
The movement #EndSARS and #SARSMUSTEND will not stop, neither will it die down until the government meets our demands. What are these demands?
-Immediate release of all arrested protesters
-Justice for all deceased victims of police brutality and appropriate compensation for their families
-Setting up an independent body to oversee the investigation and prosecution of all reports of police misconduct (within 10 days)
-In line with the new Police act, psychological evaluation and retraining (by an independent body) of all disbanded SARS officers before they can be redeployed.
-Increase police salary so that they are adequately compensated for protecting lives and property of citizens.
If you are a believer, please pray.
If you can’t join physical protests, amplify our voice online, retweet, and donate to fund protests and protesters, and pray.
Lend your voice to a worthy cause!
We will not stand down!
We will not back out!
